How to get maximum productivity from work force?


Bill gates states that his wealth goes out everyday and enters his office every morning and with the statement he wants to emphasize on the value of work force. The fact is that managing work force and getting maximum productivity from them is the key issue in any organization. However, the managements used to have their own strategies like keeping an employee unbalanced always. There was a strategy to retain an employee by keeping him always unbalanced. But, with tremendous growth world-wide, employees have lost their patience over the management strategies and teaching a lesson to the managements that they expect respect for their work and also freedom. This is a drastic change in management and managing employees in the present era is a difficult task for an organization.



Management will concentrate so much on recruitment and managing the employees afterwards. There can be many justifications when a management has certain perceptions about the people they try to recruit. Its very difficult to comment upon the recruitment strategies of management and even our Infosys Narayanamurthy was not selected by Vipro when he approached them for employment.


But, retention of employees and getting maximum productivity from them is an interesting issue to dealwith. From authority, the managements now forced to embrace respect towards employees. What I feel is that the managements should:


a) inculcate a culture that talent and hardwork is rewarded at any cost;


b) ensure that each employee is respected irrespective of his status or designation;


c) not create a feeling in the employees that there is too much interference by the managing in their work;


d) ensure that every manager in the organization follows the above principles while they extract work from their subordinates;


e) create a feeling in employees that the company can not survive without its workforce and all the success belongs them.


It is true that the management should interfere when an employee does something wrong in the course damaging the company's reputation and profits. But, present day organizations and especially small companies should focus much on rightly handling the employees as otherwise it will have an impact on company's growth itself.
